Next, roll the cookie dough into balls and toss each one in a little granulated sugar. The sugar is optional for this part, but I love the extra crunch and sweetness it adds to the cookies. Then, make an indentation in each cookie using your thumb or something similar. I actually like to use the handle of a large wooden spoon for this step.

I think this is one of my favorite cookie doughs! I did thumprint jam cookies the first time, but since I loved the dough so much I ended up just making it again but doing frosting + strawberry shortcake topping on top of them! So good! Not too sweet which leaves room for a sweeter topping.

Rich, buttery, and sweet, these Thumbprint Cookies are a classic cookie recipe that comes together with a few simple ingredients. These soft and chewy cookies are perfect for any occasion, especially for your next holiday party or cookie exchange. These cookies will melt in your mouth.

These Thumbprint Cookies are pretty as a picture and the perfect bite-sized cookie for your next holiday gathering! Buttery, shortbread style cookies are coated in sugar and filled with your choice of jam. Perfect for holiday parties, cookie exchanges or a late night treat for Santa!

To Freeze: You can freeze these jam filled cookies as well. Store cooled cookies in a freezer safe container for up to a month. Thaw to room temperature and enjoy! If you want to make the cookie dough in advance, make the dough, transfer to an airtight, freezer safe ziploc bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Proceed with recipe as directed.

Although I have filled the cookies with raspberry jam, feel free to use any flavor of jam. I do like to use a sweet yet tart flavored jam (like raspberry), as it offsets the richness of the cookie. If you decide to use preserves, just make sure to strain the preserves first to remove any large pieces of fruit. (Note: Jam and preserves are similar in that they are both a cooked combination of fruit and sugar (and sometimes pectin). The difference being that preserves still contain chunks of fruit, whereas jam is more like a smooth fruit puree.) Thumbprint cookies are classic sugar cookies with a jam-filled center. To make them, the cookie dough is first rolled into a ball, then the tops are flattened a little. Next, an indent is made in the center of the cookie and filled with any jam or sweet filling of choice. Finally, the cookie is baked.

Here is a list of our favorite fillings for thumbprint cookies. If you are planning to use a store-bought filling, be sure to choose a filling with a thicker consistency. If the preserve is very thin, it may not solidify as it should while baking.

Storing at Room Temperature: Thumbprint cookies are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. Keep the container closed to prevent the cookies from drying out.

Can salted butter be used instead of unsalted butter? Also I only have regular iodized table salt not fine sea salt. How much regular salt would I use to make these cookies. I appreciate your help with these questions & your recipes. Thanks

These raspberry almond thumbprint cookies are melt-in-your-mouth delicious! They are flakey and buttery, with just the right amount of almond flavor and when combined with the tart raspberry jam, it's a flavor sensation!

The secret to getting flakey, buttery shortbread that melts in your mouth, is powdered sugar. If you are out, you can definitely swap for granulated sugar, but you'll get a lighter, more delicate thumbprint cookie with the powdered sugar.

Thumbprint cookies are the perfect addition to any cookie box for gifting! They are small enough to tuck into a box, and add a wonderful flavor and texture to the mix! Some of my other favorite treats for gifting include my Chewy Gingerbread Man Cookies, Chocolate Turtles, Vanilla and Chocolate Sugar Cookies, and my Chewy Chocolate Cookies.

My family absolutely loved these cookies, but I wasn't able to make them look as beautiful as yours. Big problem was getting the white chocolate to be thin enough to get that delicate look. I used my microwave for 30 second intervals but try as I might it just wasn't melting to a thin enough consistency. Is there something I'm missing?? Perhaps a trick that you use. I love your recipes....always!!! Even this one I might do again but without the white chocolate fancy work and that would disappoint me.

Don't just settle for any old thumbprint cookie recipe. Make the best thumbprint cookies ever by topping chocolate brownie cookies with KISSES Milk Chocolates Filled with Caramel. They're perfect for dessert, classroom parties and holiday gifting.

Thank you so much for this recipe. I made them today, they are so good!!!!!! I used 1 cup of dark brown sugar, they are very tasty!!!! I did not refrigerate them, so the dough was a little stickiy. Next time I will refrigerate them. I greased the cookie sheets. These little whole wheat cookies are so rustic and homey. Thanks again

These cookies taste as good as they smell! I used a whole egg and replaced the coconut sugar with 1/4 cup each of white and brown sugar and it turned out great!! Thanks for the amazing recipe and beautiful story of your grandfather, Amy!

Air fryer Strawberry thumbprint cookies are simple classic shortbread jam cookies made in the air fryer. These small batch butter cookies are egg free, easy to make, and requires 3 ingredients for the cookie and an extra ingredient for the filling. These are probably what you already have in your pantry. If you are wondering how to make cookies in the air fryer, read along and find out how. Be sure to check out my air fryer shortbread cookie recipe.

Cookies are generally very easy to make, but these thumbprint cookies are even easier than most cookies: no fancy ingredients, just basic, cheap ones, no need to place the dough in the fridge for a while before baking, no cutters necessary, you basically cannot go wrong with these thumbprint cookies.

So glad I found these! I head home on leave this week for the holidays and my mom and I have always made thumb print cookies on Christmas Eve. With our being diagnosed with celiacs I was worried about our tradition.

I made these exactly per the recipe (except I used a 4-berry jam) and they were absolutely delicious! I love the way that Almond Meal makes food taste buttery when its not. These cookies are chewy and light and just sweet enough. Definitely a new guilt-free holiday tradition in our house. Thank you Angela!

It's exhausting, shaping all of these things like apples. But it's WORTH IT. cute are these? Also, Andre wants me to tell you that they are his personal favorite of all of the cookies and treats I've forced him to eat at odd hours of the night in the name of recipe-testing for the blog kindly and ever-so-generously given him to sample. In particular, he would like to note that they are "really soft and doughy."

Disappointed in these cookies. They did not keep their form at all spread out on pan into one giant thin cookie. They taste good and I got a good recipe for caramel so not a complete waste. Will not make these again.

I made these last night and they turned out great. I was able to get 30 cookies with lots of caramel sauce left over. I only had Golden Monkfruit on hand and used it for the entire recipe. Great recipe and easy to make.

Vielen dank to Elizabeth who showed me her treasured recipe with the patience and kindness only a lifelong teacher would possess. I hope you all out there will enjoy these cookies as much as I have, and I will continue to!

Guten Appetit! German Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies - Husarenkrapfen Author: Ahu Shahrabani Recipe type: Dessert Cuisine: German Prep time: 10 mins Cook time: 20 mins Total time: 30 mins Print Soft yet crunchy, buttery and fruity - these Thumbprint Cookies made with raspberry jam are a classic German Christmas Cookie - also known as Husarenkrapfen! Ingredients 200 grams butter (7 ounces) 4 egg yolks + 1 egg 3 teaspoons milk 125 grams sugar (4.4 ounces) 375 grams flour (13.2 ounces) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract cup raspberry jam cup diced / chopped almonds Instructions Combine the flour, sugar and butter in a large bowl or mixing surface until it just comes together. This works best if you chill the butter slightly and dice it with a knife into small pieces. Add the 3 egg yolks, one at a time and knead with your hands. Add the vanilla extract with the last egg yolk and knead through. Chill the dough in the fridge for 15 minutes while preheating the oven to 350 F. Prepare the egg wash by whisking the whole egg and milk together - place in a shallow dish. Cut off small pieces of dough and roll them into balls about the size of a walnut. Push your finger into each dough ball to form a crater (thumbprint!) that will later be filled with jam. Dip each cookie, crater-side down into the egg wash then into the almonds. The egg wash helps the almonds to adhere to the cookie. Once all the cookies have the almond coating and have been arranged onto a wax-paper lined baking sheet, fill the craters with a bit of jam. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. Wordpress Recipe Plugin by EasyRecipe 3.5.3208 350c69d7ab
